Google Apps phasing out support for IE 6.0

Google notified their Google Apps customers that they are phasing out support for IE 6.0 and other older browsers on March 1, 2010. I’m sure the Google Apps team has already collected the data about their users and how many use IE 6.0 or below. And since the concept of Google Apps is one that likely is to be adopted by an organization that doesn’t still use IE 6.0 anyway, this is probably going to have very little impact on users.

The good news is that the email notification hints at some new features coming out later this, “… faster JavaScript processing and new standards like HTML5.”

The email also mentioned that these changes will affect Gmail and calendar later in 2010, so if you are still using IE 6.0 and happen to have a Gmail account, you may have some issues later this year.
